Set on a hillside in the beautiful Ariège countryside , La Maire is an attractive 200 year old farmhouse with extensive grounds and far-reaching views. The house is on the edge of a working farm, just outside the small village of St Victor Rouzaud. The Ariège is a beautiful but still relatively unknown part of France, which is steeped in tradition and still unspoilt by mass tourism. It reaches from Toulouse in the North to deep into the Pyrenees in the south. La Maire is surrounded by rolling countryside with views to the Pyrenees from almost every hilltop. Fields are full of sunflowers in the summer.

 Pamiers, a small but lively market town with plentiful shops is just 15 minutes drive away and the historic towns of Foix, with its imposing castle and Mirepoix with its beautiful market place with medieval facades are also nearby. The Pyrenees, the summits of which can be seen from La Maire, are just an hours drive away, providing ample opportunities for walking and cycling in Summer and skiing in the Winter . Hilltop villages such as Carla Bayle, with its plethora of artists studios, the cité of Carcassonne and the castle of Montsegur, are also a short drive away

New owners, Lesley and Dave, are thrilled to be living in this beautiful and peaceful corner of France, and are receiving chambres d'hôtes guests. 3 guestrooms are be available, each with its own bathroom. A 10m x 5m swimming pool with beautiful views of the surrounding countrside is situated in the extensive grounds. 

Lesley,  a professional watercolour artist,  also provides painting classes on request.
